VIRTUS FC Milano - New Brand Identity

The new identity of Virtus FC Milano was reimagined, infusing it with a classic yet modern appeal, embodied by the dynamic leap of a lion atop the letter V.
From the core values of our new identity, the design team crafted three distinct playing kits that embody the spirit of the team. Introducing the V-Chaos Home Kit, where the dynamic red and blue V soar across the uniforms, representing the diverse origins of our players from around the globe. For our Away kit, the striking Amber Scratch, breaking away from tradition with lion-inspired shoulder scratches, replacing the conventional white design. Lastly, the captivating PXL Camo, a unique and contemporary kit that masterfully blends our official club colors in a fresh, modern language.
The rebranding was made to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the foundation of Virtus Milano Football Club.
Ther project was made by a design team of international students from IED – Istituto Europeo di Design of Milan and Directed by the famous football designer Alberto Mariani (a.k.a. RupertGraphic) and the BA Coordinator BOB Liuzzo. The new identity was officially adopted by Virtus FC and the production of the new uniforms are currently in progress thanks also to the collaboration with Erreà Sport as a Technical Partner.
This project show that also an amateur football team can manage a good brand design if based on true values and basic strategies.
Football is one of the most complicated field for design and designers because have to take into consideration passionate communities and historical symbolism that can’t be ignored on the design process.
